Case Study: First Year Success with Texas Math Solution
Carnegie Learning’s Texas Math Solution showed improved STAAR state assessment scores from middle to high school.
At the beginning of the 2021 school year, Muleshoe Independent School District in Muleshoe, Texas, knew there were obstacles to overcome in their math program, especially with upcoming changes to the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR).
The students had a lot of potential, but the STAAR scores were average, and were not showing much improvement. Unfortunately, the curriculum the district was using was not aligned with the types of questions that were in the assessment.
Partnership with the Texas Education Agency
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) wanted to support continuous learning efforts, so they partnered with Carnegie Learning to provide educators and students the Texas Math Solution. The Texas Math Solution is comprised of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)-aligned materials in a consumable text that encourages students to create their own mathematical knowledge and MATHia, an adaptive one-on-one math tutoring software.
One year in, Muleshoe educators, teachers, and administrators are convinced that adopting the Texas Math Solution resulted in STAAR score improvements and increases in student confidence and engagement through collaboration, supplemental support, and professional learning opportunities.
